Description
The old vines (up to 40 years of age) grow in a protected south facing site rich in layer, fossils and shell lime stone. Our finest selection of Riesling from the limestone-cliffs in Falkenstein, matured on the lees. The label shows an excerpt from our oldest wine law book of 1309
Tasting notes
On the nose fruit stone fruit notes highlighted with subtle notes of yeast, complex, creamy, and sealing. The palate is full and rich in nuances with delicate mineralic notes in the finish; great ageing potential. A truly great Riesling.
Vinification
Only ripe healthy grapes are selectively handpicked at the end of October. The grapes are then subject to 35 hours of cold maceration before careful pressing, and then spontaneous fermentation and vinification in 1,000 litre oak barrels, for up to 10 months.
